Unlike today, some years ago, content-driven movies weren’t appreciated as much as they are today. The role of content-driven movies, movies which hold the power to change the perception of any person was underrated back then.
Today as the scenario has changed, there are so many movies from the past which should be granted a hit status instead of ‘a flop’. But somehow the audience never understood the depth of the movie and didn’t go to watch the film.
These are the three movies from the list of at least three dozen, which were flops at the box office but deserved to be a hit in our opinion:
1) Lakshya (2004):
This movie was directed by Farhan Akhtar which marks his early time in the industry, starring Hrithik Roshan, Amitabh Bachchan and Preity Zinta who formed a strong star cast. The movie sent out a message to the youth to do something different – something for the country and aim big. This movie can be called as the one where Hrithik’s finest acting has been seen. The movie deals with the subject of a lost, aimless young generation who does not know what do in life.
2) Swades: We The People (2004):
Shahrukh Khan’s one of the best performances, Swades goes on to give out a beautiful message to the people of the country, that if you work along in unity with your people, your country can achieve new heights. Along with beautiful music given by A.R. Rahman, director Ashutosh Gowariker gives out a vital message for the talented, creative Indians who are out there serving for some other country; they should rather come back to their land and do something for their own country.
3) Dil Se… ( 1998):
Dil Se… is a romantic thriller which deals with the subject of terrorism, the theme of the movie is also about 7 shades of love that are defined in the Arabic culture as attraction, infatuation, love, reverence, worship, obsession and death. Written and directed by Mani Ratnam, starring Shahrukh Khan, Manisha Koirala and Preity Zinta this movie was not recognized as a hit by the audience of India but on the international level this was a hit. A.R.Rahman received several accolades for his music in the film.
What movie do you think should be on the list?
