Road trips are a bucket list item for most youngsters these days. Ditch the usual Bombay to Lonavla route and take a trip to some of these less known destinations with us!
1) Dehradun to Nainital: Hills, Valleys, Streams and Lakes
This 6 and a half hour road trip is paradise for any nature lover. It uses NH 74 and is 278 kms of scenery galore. From snow-capped peaks to lush greenery that stretches on to no end, you name it, it has it. Best enjoyed in the winter months, the weather is cold and pleasant. The ghats can become a little tiresome but they end sooner that one realises. The roads are well maintained, in great condition, and the twists and turns are the perfect gifts for any thrill-seeking adventure fam. This is definitely a trip to take with your family, playing Uno or Monodeal on the way!
2) Chennai to Pondicherry: Sand, Sun, Beach, Fun
On the smaller side, this 3 and a half hour road trip of 158 kms isn’t only fun but also easy to navigate through without too much commitment or the fear of getting tired. The views are splendid and you just won’t be able to stop yourself from getting off and snapping some pictures for the ‘gram. For the truly adventurous, you can even make a stop at Mahabalipuram and enjoy the splendid temples and delicious dhabas. Girls, this one’s perfect for a bachelorette!
3) Mumbai to Mount Abu: Concrete Jungle to Tranquil Haven
This one isn’t for the faint of heart. This 12-hour road trip on NH8 is 758 km of driving through 3 different cultures. This ecstatic journey gives you a taste of Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. It moves from urban towns to hilly terrains and whilst the roads twist and turn, they’re safe and well kept. In case you get tired or need to take a break, the hotels and dhabas in Ahmedabad and Vadodara will be more than happy to welcome you! You might also want to indulge in the delicious Gujarati thalis they offer.
Hop in your cars, put on some Post Malone or Arijit Singh, load up on your ‘singh-chanaa’ and ‘timepass’ and you have yourself an Instagram worthy road trip!
