Saint Kabir, who lived during the 15th century was a mystic poet and saint. He was a disciple of Ramanand. These five dohas by Kabir will instantly bring in wisdom into our busy lives!
There is wisdom in our past that we still haven’t learnt from. People often say that we must learn from the mistakes others commit.
Indian literature is a mountain of wisdom. The poets like Saint Kabir Das who lived centuries ago said things about human nature that are relevant even today.
These 3 dohas are just the beginning to unravel the gems of the past.
बुरा जो देखन मैं चला, बुरा न मिलिया कोय
जो दिल खोजा आपना, मुझसे बुरा न कोय।
I looked in the world to find the bad, I searched for it in people but I didn’t find any.
But when I looked within myself, there was no one as bad as me.
Often, we are busy pointing fingers at others and finding the bad in them. It is the bad inside us that we ignore to see, it is that darkness that we need to get rid of.
पोथी पढ़ि पढ़ि जग मुआ, पंडित भया न कोय,
ढाई आखर प्रेम का, पढ़े सो पंडित होय।
Many people have passed way reading lots of books in search of wisdom and knowledge but even then they didn’t become scholars.
But only by studying the word of ‘love’, one became a scholar, one became enlightened.
Kabir was very wise in saying this that the lessons taught by love and the enlightenment found through loving cannot be found by reading even a hundred books.
धीरे-धीरे रे मना, धीरे सब कुछ होय,
माली सींचे सौ घड़ा, ॠतु आए फल होय।
Mind keep patience, everything will happen slowly.
The gardener sows a hundred plants but the fruit only in the season.
Kabir talks about patience. He explains that everything happens at the right time and the mind must keep patience. Even the fruits come only in the seasons while the gardener takes care of the trees all year long.
