Ranbir Kapoor had a legacy to follow. Being the son of famous veteran actors, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor and the grandson of the famous all-rounder, Raj Kapoor, he had a lot to prove. 2) Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani

This movie is a romantic comedy and it become a sensational hit with beautiful music. Starring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi the film took Kapoor towards the peak of his career, changing the entire line up of his movies.

3) Raajneeti

This was director Prakash Jha’s big budget political drama, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Katrina Kaif, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Vajpayee and Ajay Devgn. It was based on the Mahabharata and Mario Puzo’s Novel The Godfather. Unlike most of the movies Kapoor had done before, this one saw him playing a serious character in a negative yet positive role. He was also nominated for various awards for his performance in this film.

4) Barfi

Barfi, that released in 2011 was directed by Anurag Basu, starring Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D’cruz. The music of the movie was extremely praised.  But what really won hearts of the audiences was Ranbir Kapoor’s character in the film. Here he plays the role of a mute and deaf person while Priyanka played the role of an autistic woman. The movie embarks on the feeling that love can do and be anything and it does not need words, feelings are enough.

5) Rockstar

This was Ranbir Kapoor’s first working with Imtiaz Ali. The movie also starred Nargis Fakhri.  This combo of actor and director fuelled an intense movie with amazing music. Rockstar became a blockbuster and Kapoor’s acting was not only loved by the audiences but also acclaimed by the critics. Kapoor, who plays a college boy aspiring to be a singer and learns that a singer should travel through emotional pain did a commendable job. Jordan’s undying love for the woman of his life along with his ‘madness’ for her was communicated well.
