Supporting characters are the pillars in any movie. The supporting characters should be very strong that the audiences keep on wanting more and more from them. There are some supporting characters we have seen recently in films, who at least should get a movie of their own – and their story should continue.
Just how ‘Baby’ starred Taapsee Pannu as a supporting character, and then the makers made her a prequel – an individual movie named ‘Naam Shabana’ which has her past story, a movie should be made on these characters as well:
1) Chand Nawab:
You remember that journalist and anchor played by actor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, in Kabir Khan’s ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’?
Born in Pakistan’s, Mirpurkhas, Khan was inspired by his (Chand Nawab’s) work – there is a video uploaded by his colleagues which went viral in 2008, where Nawab is trying to record a film in his camera on a stairway at a railway station and he is repeatedly interrupted by the passengers there. We see the same in the movie. Nawaz plays the role of ‘Chand Nawab’.
The audience wants to know more on Chand Nawab’s character what made him a journalist, why he started by joining ‘Indus News’, and more fictional stories of his life would be a treat for the viewers.
2) Dr. Jehangir Khan:
Dr. Jehangir Khan was actress Alia Bhatt’s therapist in Gauri Shinde’s ‘Dear Zindagi’, the role was played amazingly by SRK. He made an impression on the mind of the viewers that he is the person who can solve any problem for everyone. Personally, the way that role is portrayed, it is shown that how Jehangir Khan loves his child, but because of his divorce, they aren’t along so he cannot spend more time with him.
People would want to know a lot about his past life, what inclined him towards becoming a brain doctor, what was he like before, and how he can like a cakewalk solve every difficult problem.
Remember the mother of Bajirao, in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’, Radhabai? Radhabai’s character on screen has played by ‘Tanvi Azmi’. Why is she against the marriage of her son with a Muslim girl? We would like to know more about it. There is more to her character and deep down she expresses the struggle she has taken in raising Bajirao, her story basically, which would be personally appreciated by the audiences a lot.
4) Bob Biswas:
Everybody knows him, the contract killer in ‘Kahaani’ starring Vidya Balan. The character of Bob is played by ‘Saswata Chatterjee’ looks like a small kid, covered by sweat on screen with that big glasses he wears, and then suddenly the ruthless killer comes out who is cold and heartless. Why he became a contract killer, what made him do that, how so many powerful people covering the conspiracy in the movie know him – a movie made on such factors will be a blockbuster.
5) Pritam Vidrohi:
In the terms of comedy this is the best character, in Bareilly Ki Barfi, played by the super talented Rajkummar Rao. Rao is the perfect ‘Badass Babua’ in the movie. His transformation and innocence win scores of hearts. In the start of the movie, it is shown that he is such a simple character who is scared of everyone, but what made him so? We wonder.
Who is your favourite supporting character?
