5 Things About Bollywood Films That Are Truly Intriguing

Bollywood has always been a gaga affair – from the films to the actors, from the ramps to the award shows and from the theatres to the film sets.

1) Lagaan:


Mr Perfectionist – the Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, is well known for his powerful acting and the movies he takes up. While shooting for Lagaan – 15 years ago, along with the director Ashutosh Gowariker, there were maximum numbers of British actors which were roped in a single movie in the history of Bollywood!

2) Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge:

Saif Ali Khan, the Nawab of Pataudi and son of former cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi,  veteran actress Sharmila Tagore was the first choice for Aditya Chopra’s Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge opposite Kajol for the role of Raj Malhotra. Later on, the role was played by Shah Rukh Khan, was also offered to Tom Cruise!

3) Mughal-e-Azam:


The 1960 film was originally trilingual – shot in English, Hindi and Tamil. Post-release of the Tamil version, when that bombed at the box office, the English version was never released.

4) Sholay:


Bollywood’s one of the most iconic movies – Mr Sippy’s 1975 blockbuster, Sholay’s scriptwriter Javed Akhtar found that the villain in the film, actor Amjad Khan’s voice was very weak and soft for the role of Gabbar Singh. Actor Danny Denzongpa was also approached for ‘Sholay’ for the role of ‘Gabbar’, but later Amjad Khan was finalized to play the role.

5) Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai:


Hrithik Roshan and Amisha Patel’s debut film, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, directed by Rakesh Roshan, has been added in the list of Guinness Books of World Records in the year of 2002 for winning the highest number of awards. The movie won a total of 92 awards!
