We all hate those dark and irritating bad days that take a toll on our minds. But how do you show a bad day that you are strong?
There are two ways of dealing with a bad day – one that you let it overpower you and two that you shove it back where it came from.
Some of us are firm believers of Murphy’s law – Murphy said that what can go wrong will go wrong. But then there is another law that you do not know much about. That law is called Yhphrum’s law which is the exact of opposite. It says, everything that can work, will work. So, choose your side, wisely.
Here are five things you can do to beat a bad day now!
1. Stop thinking that because one thing has wrong, everything else will too!
The biggest mistake we all make is to think that one thing that went wrong in the morning will lead to other things to go wrong in the rest of the day. That is not true. We get so agitated by that one thing that we don’t focus well on any thing for the rest of the day and then everything starts tumbling downhill. So, take a deep, really deep breath. And stop.
Press the reset button. Freshen up. And then go about doing your daily chores. Stop brooding.
2. Plug in your earphones and play the music that you like.
It is proven that music will help you calm down and change your mood. Keep a playlist ready for such days and just listen to the music you like for ten to fifteen minutes. That will help you in ways you cannot imagine.
Science says, music released mood-enhancing serotonin in our brain in a recent study scientists conducted. So don’t forget to take your earphones or headphones along wherever you go. They are your biggest shields.
3. Indulge into comfort food – or simply chocolate!
There are a few foods for every human being on this planet that they can eat at any time of the day and in large quantities. Then there are some foods that will send up a signal of comfort and happiness in your brain like chocolate, cheese, paneer, soups, coffee, tea or anything that you love.
If you don’t have the time to treat yourself, pick up a bar of chocolate. That will put an end to your misery. Really.
4. Talk – talk to your friend or someone in the family.
Communication is the key on which human civilisation exists. Talk. Dial your personal hotline. The reason for doing this is to get the bad stuff that happened to you, out of your system. And do it as soon as you can.
The psychological impact of talking is huge. One feels like the pain and irritation exited from their minds through their mouths. You will soon feel relieved and stop your day from becoming bad just because one thing went the wrong way.
5. Help someone else.
Yes that might sound bizarre but it is human psychology that when you help someone else you feel better. It is just like you helped yourself. This help doesn’t have to be huge. It can be something very small like helping someone cross the road, or buying food for a homeless person or sending a small gift to the one you love.
This is a tried and tested way of bringing about a change in your mood. Do try it if nothing else is working out for you. Seeing the smile on someone else’s face will make you smile as well. Happiness is infectious.
These five tips will help you say goodbye to a bad day. Our life is short. Why waste it on negative emotions?
