Bollywood had a different image a decade ago than it has now. With time, like everything should, Bollywood is also changing.
If we were to compare the Bollywood of today and Bollywood of two decades ago, there will be drastic differences.
These five things are changing the Bollywood from inside:
1) Regional actors:
The regional cinema and the actors belonging from there are now entering the Bollywood industry, much more than before. There are some versatile actors like Prabhas and Rana Daggubati who have made their name in the industry. Diljit Dosanjh has started getting projects with his one amazing performance in‘Udta Punjab’ – we will now see him in Soorma.
2) Unconventional movies:
These unconventional movies touch the hearts of the audience because people are constantly looking for something new. For example, take an inspirational movie like ‘Hichki’. Or there is another movie called ‘Blackmail’ which is comedy, thriller and shows the darker shades of the life of the urban society.
3) Unique director-actor combinations:
Back then there was a formula that this director would work only with this actor and vice versa. But now the scenario seems to extremely different, who imagined that actor Ranbir Kapoor and director Rajkumar Hirani would deliver such an exceptional movie, ‘Sanju’? These pairs are purely based on the talents.
4) There is no reluctance to appear on TV & web series:
Ever since Amazon Prime and Netflix launched in India the scenario of television and web have changed. The artists of the Bollywood industry are constantly exploring their talents by acting in shows like ‘Sacred Games’ – the first Indian show on Netflix was released recently and has got amazing reviews. The star cast includes Nawauddin Siddiqui, Saif Ali Khan, and Radhika Apte.
5) Talent takes priority:
Finally, this is the strongest point now which is changing the whole situation. Talent is being considered and not just good looks. The makers of the movie want talent, good looks aren’t so much of a priority any more.
Cheers to a changing Bollywood!
