5 year old girl, Cherukuri Dolly Shivani, from Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh has entered her name in the India Book of Records and also the Asia Book of Records.
Cherukuru Dolly Shivani has taken the family legacy forward by creating records. She was extremely firm when she started with archery and practicing, with a bow and a arrow in her hand.
Recently, Shivani created a record for being the first one to fire 103 arrows from a distance of 10 meters, that too in just 11 minutes and 19 seconds. Shivani did not take a step back after making this record and went on to make another by firing 36 arrows from a distance of 20 meters, in a record time of just 5 minutes 8 seconds, scoring 290 points out of 360.
Can anyone believe that this 5 year old girl has done so much, bigger than her age, and set an extraordinary record?
Shivani has the art of archery within her. Her father, Satyanarayana, who is the chairman of the Volga Archer Academy, has been a helping hand in coaching lots of international archers.
Unfortunately Shivani’s late brother, Cherukuri Lenin was an international player and also a coach, but he passed away in a road accident, in 2010 just after the Delhi Commonwealth games.
Archery in this family is like inherited wealth.
Satyanarayana and wife Krishna, were shattered after experiencing the death of their boy. Then they opted for surrogacy and Shivani was born. Shivani’s father brought her daughter 30 carbide recurve bows specially made from Poland, when Shivani was in her surrogate mother’s womb.
When Shivani was 3 years old, she was extremely disciplined about archery. She carried her bow stand everywhere, practicing and warming up everyday with seniors.
Father Satyanarayana said, “ When we came to know that the baby was on her way we decided to mould her as an archer. The preparation was on while she was in the womb itself. When Shivani was born on April 2, 2012, she arrived amidst the bows and arrows. Her 35-month journey so far has always been archery. Literally, she speaks, dreams, eat archery and mingles with senior archers. Today, we are very proud to see our kid making such grand advancements. We hope that by the grace of god, she will scale greater heights. She is now completely firm and professional, and listens to each and every suggestion, either from me or from her coach Chandrasekar, with full concentration.”
Shivani currently is gearing up for the 2024 Olympics to represent India. If this girl has accomplished so much at a very young age of 5, just imagine what she can accomplish later! The future of India looks very bright.
