7 Lesser Known Facts About Amitabh’s Bungalows Jalsa And Prateeksha In Mumbai

As we all know the angry young man Amitabh Bachchan, he is famous in the whole world for his amazing acting and movies he has acted in.

But no one knows so much about his houses. His houses, Prateeksha and Jalsa in Mumbai’s famous area Juhu are a tourist spot where his fans often wait for a glimpse of him or take a selfie.

1) Jalsa is a gift from an old friend:

Amitabh Bachchan has worked with many directors in Bollywood, and he shares a special bond with many. There is one director with whom he has worked in iconic movies like ‘Sholay’ ‘Shaan’ etc, Ramesh Sippy has gifted the Jalsa bungalow to Mr. Bachchan as a gift for acting in his movie, ‘Satte Pe Satta’.

2) Amitabh Bachchan and fans meet every weekend:

Outside Jalsa, fans gather out on Sunday evening and Amitabh Bachchan greets his fans every weekend. This has now become a routine ritual, and some of the times Amitabh Bachchan’s family members also come with him to greet the crowd.

3) Prateeksha is Big B’s first love:

Amitabh Bachchan’s first house when he came on peak was Prateeksha in Mumbai’s Juhu area. Prateeksha is just 1 Km away from Jalsa where he and wife Jaya Bachchan reside. This bungalow holds a special place in his heart.

4) First movie shot inside Jalsa:

Gangs of Wasseypur director Anurag Kashyap is the first one to shoot in Big B’s house Jalsa. Kashyap shot a small film titled ‘Murabba’ in Bombay Talkies but mind you the interiors were not captured in the film.

5) Family functions in Jalsa:

Actor Abhishek Bachchan and Actress Aishwariya Rai’s grand wedding happened in Jalsa in the year 2007. After marriage the duo were gifted with a daughter named, Aaradhya Bachchan who was also first brought to pay respects to their ancestors at Jalsa.

6) Tax is a problem for all of us:

Jalsa was originally under the name of Amitabh Bachchan’s brother Ajitabh Bachchan’s wife Ramola Bachchan. As per the sources this was done due to the issues related to tax, and then in 2006 again it was changed in the name of Jaya Bachchan.

7) Jalsa inside:

Jalsa is a two storey bungalow, with a square feet of 10,125. The staircase inside the bungalow is assorted with family photos on the walls. Have a look at the slideshow below:

Bonus Fact : The Bachchan family owns five properties in Juhu, Mumbai. ‘Prateeksha’, which is their first house; ‘Jalsa’, where the family resides today, ‘Janak’, which was bought in 2004 and is currently  used as an office; ‘Vatsa’, which was leased to Citibank and another property which they bought right next to Jalsa in 2013 – Janaki Kutir.
