These photos that you haven’t seen yet will give you glimpse into the times of yesterday.
Kargil Vijay Divas, is celebrated on July 26 every year, is named after the famous ‘Operation Vijay’ of the Indian Defence Forces.
The unforgettable Kargil War between India and Pakistan lasted for 60 days and ended on 26th July, 1999. Today we celebrate Kargil’s War heroes, for the only reason that they played a huge role in protecting India.
These three quotes by parents of those who died fighting for their country speak volumes about those times:
1. “Why should I cry ? Everyone dying on the front is my son and I pray that next time I get 10 sons, all for the country.”
Mother of Major Adhikari, killed in the Drass Sector.
2. “May every home produce a son like you so that the enemy dare not touch the territorial sanctity of our country.”
Mother of Lt. Saurav Kalia, killed in Kargil.
3. “I feel privileged as the country is proud of my son who has become a martyr … and is immortal.”
Father of Flt Engr. Raj Kishore Sahu, killed in Kargil.
The slideshow below shows photos from the Kargil War and photos of those bravehearts who fought for their country till their last breath.
