Talking about the ‘Neerja’ actress’s personal life, she has been independent since childhood. It is assumed that each and every girl is pampered by their parents in Bollywood but here there is a slight twist to the story as Sonam took up the job of a waitress at the age of 15. Apparently, it was her first job to supplement her pocket money. She was studying in Singapore and her parents provided her with a meagre allowance, since then after taking up the job she has never asked her parents for money. The actress is extremely vocal about this when she herself revealed on a starlet show, Simi Selects, explaining how it has never been an asset for herself to be a star actors daughter.

She had weight problems, lack of confidence, negativity, not sure of what to do and what not to but was helped by ‘Padmavat’ director who saw the potential within her. For the role in ‘Saawariya’ she lost 35 kgs!
