Bollywood’s one of the oldest actors Amitabh Bachchan is a very graceful actor, and he is worshipped by his fans in the whole world. Wherever he has ever gone for shooting people start loving him and develop a bond with him. Something like this happened at the time of 1992’s one of the most successful films, ‘Khuda Gawah’, starring Amitabh Bachchan and actress Sridevi, directed by Mukul S. Anand.
The film was such a hit that it received 38 Filmfare awards. This film was also responsible for bringing Bachchan’s career back on track. The movie was shot in Afghanistan and that time the President was Mohammad Najibullah Ahmadazi, who was a huge fan of Amitabh Bachchan. Khuda Gawah is one of the most loved Bollywood movies in Afghanistan, even today.
Afghanistan’s President, Najibullah Ahmadazi had taken the responsibility of actor Bachchan’s security in his country so that all the actors and filmmakers can shoot the film peacefully without any barrier. Very few people knew that Afghanistan’s President had deployed half of the country’s Air Force for the actor’s protection! Such was the actor’s stardom and down to earth nature in real life. At that time also Afghanistan was in the turmoil with the USA, so the situation was not great for shooting.
This incident has been mentioned by Big B in an interview with a leading publication in 2010, “When we were discussing the script of Khuda Gawah, I said let us go to Afghanistan to shoot. We went to Mazar-e-sharif to shoot the sequence of traditional Afghan sport of Buzkashi. The President provided us with excellent security when the shooting was on. Fighter Jet planes were keeping vigil in the sky and army tanks were at the side of the sets. It just felt like a battlefield.”
This is one thing about the star that a very few people know about him.
How interesting is that?
