Rabindranath Tagore once said, “Let life be as beautiful as summer flowers and death as beautiful as autumn leaves.”
Dying is a constant which is inevitable, sooner or later it is going to happen and it can be anytime, highly unpredictable. So how should we love our lives? Like today is the last. Often dealing with the death of a loved one or the fear of our own death scares us. This app will help you get over the fear.
There is an app called ‘WeCroak’ which promises to remind you of death five times in a day every day for the rest of your life. There is a catch though, it does not remind you of the death in a pessimistic way, instead, it is actually opposite. It comes in an optimistic way of the quotes from the great poets, philosophers and other people who are not just fully aware of ‘death’ but have actually died.
WeCroak has taken inspiration from a Bhutanese folk belief, “To be happy one must contemplate death five times daily.”
The basic fundamental of the app developer ‘Ian Thomas’ who is just 27, is that this is app is meant to encourage you with these quotes which keep on reminding you of death. A writer for The Atlantic, Bianca Bosker tried WeCroak and it helped her finding clarity and peace in her life.
They arrive “at random times and at any moment just like death,” according to the app’s website and are for our “contemplation, conscious breathing or meditation.”
When you will be sitting or lying down somewhere and your phone buzzes, with a notification being shown to you that you are going to die and yes it can be anytime – it will help you face the ultimate end and make you better equipped.
It will help you to do what you want to do, decide where you want to go in life, disconnect from the things where wasting time is not fruitful and be able to ‘live’ life.
