We’ve seen court marriages, destination weddings, weddings that are on a tight budget and weddings that are a hurried affair. Now if you don’t want to get wed like any of those listed, you can get married on a train! Sounds extraordinary, doesn’t it?
Even though it has been a year since The Maharaja Express opened bookings for weddings, not many have opted to get married on a luxurious train. The IRCTC decided to give the passengers a different experience – this train tours through India’s heritage sites like Agra, Jaipur, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Ajanta, Varanasi and Lucknow. But if you don’t want to stop at these places, you could customise your route! How exciting does it sound to customise the route of a train just for your wedding? The train runs only from October to April.
The Maharaja Express has 23 coaches and 43 cabins. It can accommodate up to 88 people. These 43 cabins are further sub-divided into four categories of 20 deluxe cabins, 18 junior suites, 4 suites and a presidential suite. It also has two fine dining restaurants named Rang Mahal and Mayur Mahal along with two bars Rajah Club and Safari Bar.
So how much will it cost you to get married on board? Not cheap. Their tours start from ₹2,50,000-₹15,00,00. According to a report in The Times Of India, if you want to opt for a heritage tour from Mumbai to Delhi, it will cost you a whopping ₹5 crore!
