We have grown up listening to a bundle of haunted stories about haunted houses and ghosts. The adventurer in each of us has been wanting to jump on a chance to visit that infamous place that has been ‘haunted’ according to folklore. Now you really can.
This haunted cycling tour is known as ‘The Bombay Ghost Ride Through The Land Of Mahimavati’. Now, what is that? Mahimavati was the name given to the areas of Mahim, Dadar and Matunga (East) in Mumbai, years ago. You can simply sign up for this tour and go on an adventure in a city that is known to never sleep.
The Legend of Bombay Bards, a travel and storytelling company organise such cycling tours in the night – midnight, actually. ‘On this haunted midnight bicycle trail you will get to hear stories of Murder, Myth and Mystery of Mahimawati,’ they state.
The tour starts at 10:30 p.m from Dadar and ends an hour after midnight with a ‘scary surprise’ at Dadar awaiting those who are daring enough to complete the tour.
According to insider.in, where you can book the tickets for the tour, ‘Priyank & Yogesh, both belong to the era when you became an engineer first, then took a management degree and then joined the corporate rat race. Well, they did just that, until the time they realised that their hearts wanted something more. Thus was born “The Legend of Bombay Bards (TLBB)”, combining their love for storytelling & passion for travelling. TLBB is a Travel-Story-Telling Company which is dedicated to spreading the love for travel & history through stories of soil & souls.’
All you need to carry is some water, Glucon-D (why would you need that? maybe you know why) and some snacks. Cycles are provided on the haunted cycling tour but you are free to get your own.
Where will they take you on the tour? This is what they say on their Facebook page, ‘Take a walk through the mystical Pallav Sheth Wadi, where the angry ghost of the chawl’s landlord Pallav, still roams around guarding the residents.Visit the supposedly haunted house where Sulochana drowned in a now-covered well.Does she still wail every night for her children she left home? Listen to these, and many more of such spooky stories, experience the chills and decide for yourself.’
The tour covers places in Mahimavati where spooky happenings have been reported in history. Go find out the truth! Be prepared to get goosebumps.
The next tour is on January 25 and costs ₹1499 per person. You can book the tickets here.
