Many people have not heard about the place in India where the sun first rises. Watching the sunrise is the best thing one can do in life but what if you witness the first place in the country where the sun rises?
For the urban folk, watching sunrises is a luxury as often the sun is blocked by the towering structures exemplifying modernisation. But there is one beautiful place in India where you should visit for reconnecting with nature.
The sun first rises in a small town of ‘Dong’ which is in the Anjaw district of ‘Arunanchal Pradesh’. The place is 1240 meters above sea level. The discovery was made 19 years ago in the year of 1999 marking Dongas the easternmost place in India. Before this discovery, a place in Andamans and Nicobar island – Katchal island – was the first place to wake up the rising sun.
Arunachal Pradesh is a state in the northeastern part of India and it also borders with the neighbouring country, China. The beauty of the place is such that since the time it was discovered people are doing a trek of 8 kilometres just to see the sunrise which happens behind the mountains. The whole place is a beautiful valley and it does not have any kind of motorable road.
The place Dong is located at the gathering of two rivers – Lohit which is a tributary of the Brahmaputra river and another is Sati. The sun in Dong rises around 5:54 a.m. and it sets around 4:30. Yeah, that early!
This place in Arunachal Pradesh is a must visit for each and every traveller. It gives you the experiences of complete tranquility when you see the first sunrise the country. No need to go to Japan!
