In the first part of this series, we gave you baffling facts about the human mind that portrayed the power of the brain. Here are 5 more facts that will shock you!
If we could use the whole of our mind – without any limits, how would that be? What if we could control our mind and direct it to doing activities that lead to higher productivity than the current output level? What if we could control our emotions?
The possibilities are endless when it comes to the human mind. Here are 5 facts about the human mind that you need to know:
1) The human brain reaches full maturity only at the age of 25!
The growth of brain cells in supreme – sometimes there might be an addition of 2,50,000 neurons per minute! As per the studies conducted by scientists recently, the brain develops completely only around the age of 25.
2) The average human brain generates about 50,000 thoughts a day!
The next time someone tells you that you are over-thinking, tell them this. Also, the studies have indicated that out of the 25,000-50,000 thoughts that we think a day, around 70% are negative!
According to Psychology Today, “Even though people claim to hold themselves in high regard, the thoughts that spontaneously occur to them—their “mental chatter,” so to speak—is mostly (up to 70%) negative, a phenomenon that could be referred to as negativity dominance.”
3) How we behave, how we dress are projections of the state of our mind!
The state of the person’s house or bedroom is an external visual or representation of the mind being very organised or unorganised. It is said that the clothes a person wears, the way they dress, the way they act and the way they decorate their houses are all the representations of what goes on within their minds. For example, a Schizotypal person, will wear unusual clothes with patterns or colours which don’t match. Or when you are upset and the mind is a mess, your wardrobe is likely to be disorganised.
4) The human brain has 100,000 miles of blood vessels and a 100-billion neurons.
The human brains consists of 100 billion neurons firing away at various different times depending upon our experiences. Should someone take out all the blood vessels out of the human brain and straighten them out into one length of blood vessels, it would measure upto 100,000 miles.
5) The human mind is capable of performing 10 quadrillion operations per second.
The processing of the brain does not stop even when we are asleep, or are not working on something. Brain being the most powerful quantum processing supercomputer, has the capacity to perform all sorts of complex simultaneous processes, even when a human is asleep!
