“I Hide Good Books For Good People,” Says A Decades Old Book-Seller In Mumbai

Mumbai’s streets are famous for selling all kinds of things since decades. One of those good things is books. When you visit Mumbai’s Flora Fountain, you won’t fail to notice how an entire footpath is lined up with books – books that sell at amazing prices.

But that is not the only place where books are sold. This short film, by Camera And Shots tells the story of a bookseller named Bablu Chakraborty who set up shop back in 1969.

In this era when we are all hooked on to buying things online, it is such local sellers who lose out. This man, who became a reader after a customer asked him why he didn’t know about a book when he was selling those, keeps good books hidden for people who would appreciate them.

Chakraborty’s favourite book which has changed his life is ‘Zen And The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance’ by Robert Pirsing.

He also has a way of finding out what his customers would like to read. His beautiful story, which he tells himself, is must-watch in this short film titled ‘Zen And The Art Of Bookselling’.
