A man in Tamil Nadu parked his unregistered bike outside an RTO with a sign that reads ‘I refuse to pay bribe’, says he was fed up, becomes a crusader against corruption.

Nagaraj, who is the owner of the red TVS scooty that is parked outside The Regional Transport Office of Tirupur North. The sign that is placed on the scooter, in Tamil, reads, This bike was not registered because I refused to pay a bribe to the RTO. So, I am leaving this with the RTO”.
Nagaraj bough the scooter from a showroom with big dreams after paying a down payment of ₹21,5000 – with an agreement to pay EMIs for the next 24 months. However, the people at the showroom demanded ₹1791 from him to registered the bike, as per a report in The News Minute.
“They told me that the money was to bribe the RTO for registration. I refused to give it and my vehicle was not registered,” he alleged. He further said, “I got really fed up and decided to give it to the RTO and figure out a solution. So, I hung this board on the vehicle and took it there.”
The resident of Angeripalayam after he was forced to keep the vehicle unregistered for 20 days.
Nagaraj who is doing this for awareness added, “I did this to ensure that people are made aware of such corruption but nothing has come out of it so far. I filed a police complaint as well 10 days back but not even an FIR has been filed.”
“RTO official Sivagurunathan admitted that the showroom was wrong to not register the bike and said it will be done in a week. Why couldn’t he have done it immediately?” he asked. The RTO official has also sent a notice to Nagaraj and the showroom to appear before him about the matter.
