Today in the industry, Imtiaz Ali is known for conveying each and every notion of what is going within himself through a movie, be it love, life, dreams, travel and a lot more. Ali believes in learning one thing thoroughly rather than having an idea of everything which can be simply depicted from his movies. The director is known for intense movies, which are gripping and hard hitting in its own form. From his directorial debut in 2005 – Socha Na Tha – to the recent ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’, each and every movie directed by him isn’t conventional. Today in the industry he is known for making modern age romantic movies.
The ‘Rockstar’ director took four years to complete his debut movie which starred Abhay Deol and Ayesha Takia. Irrespective of the fact that the movie did not perform at the box office, it won the director his critical acclaim status. ‘Socha Na Tha’ is one of the simplest love stories but described in the most beautiful form. The music of the movie is even remembered today among the listeners.
The ‘Love Aaj Kal’ director believes that the debut movie had a better plot than ‘Jab We Met’ which was his ladder to success. Many people must be thinking that what took him four years for the movie but while making the film, Imtiaz learned a lot about tapes, the way they get assembled in the making of the movie, he learned the technical aspects involved in the process of directing a movie and some editing techniques, which are a necessary knowledge.
Imtiaz Ali was born on 16th June 1971, in Darbhanga, Bihar. Born to father Mansoor Ali who worked in the irrigation background, he used to go along with his father to the fields to learn and help. Ali attended the Hindu College, the University of Delhi, where he participated in theatre, became successful and also started a dramatic society called ‘Ibtida’.
Currently, Imtiaz Ali has teamed with Ekta Kapoor for a love story ‘Laila Majnu’ which is set to release on 4th May, directed by Sajid Ali and the star cast of the movie is kept under wraps.
