Did You Know Kajol Was The First Actress To Win A Filmfare For…

Kajol is one of Bollywood’s most successful actresses of all times. She was born in the Mukherjee – Samarth family, to Tanuja – who was herself a successful actress in her time – and father Shomu Mukherjee, a late filmmaker. It seems as if acting was in the genes of this actress as she is the recipient of numerous accolades which include 12 nominations and 6 wins at Filmfare awards.

Kajol and her late aunt Nutan both of them hold the record for most of the Filmfare actress wins at Filmfare – five. The actress made her debut in 1992 with the romantic movie Bekhudi, which performed great at the box office.

Kajol is the first actress in the Bollywood industry who won the award at Filmfare for a negative role which she did in a 1997 thriller movie ‘Gupt: The Hidden Truth’ which was directed by Rajiv Rai and also starred Bobby Deol, Manisha Koirala and Paresh Rawal. The film went on to become a huge success, commercially, critically and musically. She was the first actress to get an award for the ‘best villain’.

According to the actress, this was the toughest role of her career because she had only done romantic movies or action until she accepted ‘Gupt’.

Kajol is such an actress who gets inside the skin of the character. Remember ‘DDLJ’ where she played the role of Simran? The movie is still running in one theatre in Mumbai – the Maratha Mandir. It is an evergreen movie and the pair of ‘Shahrukh Khan’ and actress ‘Kajol’ is till date the most successful pair in the Bollywood industry; be it ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ which was director Karan Johar’s debut movie or ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’ and also movies like ‘My Name Is Khan’.

Karan Johar considers the ‘Baazigar’ actress to be his lucky mascot as there have been times when she is not playing a role in the movie but is doing a cameo. Though there have been some speculations that both of them had a fallout a year ago and then patched up.

Which is your favourite movie starring the actress?
