Bringing joy to many Mumbaikars who have been waiting for a good cycling track for long, the government has granted permission to allow people to cycle from NCPA to Bandra-Worli sea link every Sunday, from 6a.m. to 11 a.m.
Imagine cycling with the sea by your side and having a new thing to do in Mumbai once you are bored of the usual clubs and restaurants. You would also be spreading a message for a greener Mumbai.
Shiv Sena Chief’s son, Aaditya Thackeray, is the brain-child of this project.
The traffic department has given permission for three months for this novel initiative that will make an amazing thing possible in the city of dreams.
The bicycles would be available on rent, along with helmets at four places – NCPA, Girgaum, Haji Ali and Bandra-Worli Sea Link. It will be a two-way route.
A few months ago, a similar initiative was taken at Bandra’s Carter Road every Sunday, however due to traffic issues that initiative was called off. The BMC is also looking for more places which could be opened up for cycling.
Now you know what you are going to do next Sunday!
