Radhika belongs to a very affluent family from Pune. She is the daughter of city’s well-known neurosurgeon Dr. Charudutt Apte, who is the chairman of Sahyadri Hospital. The ‘Badlapur’ actress is an economics and mathematics graduate from Fergusson college in Pune, apart from this she is a master of ‘Kathak’ and ‘Contemporary Dance’.
Apte before her entry in films has done various stage plays with most of them in the Marathi language. She was associated with Mohit Takalkar’s theatre troupe Aasakta Kalamanch and in a commercial Hindi play ‘Kanyadaan’.
Her experience in acting is very wide – she has done Bengali films, short films, Tamil films, Hindi films etc. She made her entry in 2005 in Bollywood, playing a role in Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Vaah Life Ho Toh Aisi’ in the middle years she acted in many films, her role was noticed in Ram Gopal Verma’s movie ‘Rakht Charitra’ in 2009.
The actress got married to the British musician Benedict Taylor in 2012. According to a report in Pune Mirror, she met Taylor in 2011 when she was taking lessons in contemporary dance. When Apte got married, her friend Sarang Sathay told The Daily, “Yes, they had a registered marriage a month ago. It was a quiet, private function. They were living together for a long time and they got married to sort their visas and other documentation.”
Benedict Taylor plays the viola and works with various musical organisations, achieving fame for himself. He is the founder & artistic director of CRAM, a music collective & independent record label (CRAM Records). He has also worked with many big names in contemporary music.
In 2011 she appeared in movies like ‘I am’ and Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Shor In The City’ alongside actor Tushar Kapoor. There were some reports about the duo having an affair as well but the truth is unknown.
Her critical acclaim came after her supporting role in Sriram Raghavan’s ‘Badlapur’ alongside Varun Dhawan which was widely noticed everywhere and she played a leading role in a sex comedy ‘Hunterrr’. She received a positive feedback from acting in superstar Rajnikanth’s crime drama ‘Kabali’ which went on to become a hit.
Radhika Apte’s forthcoming movies are like ‘Bazaar’, ‘Shoot The Piano Player’ and others.
