The Poetess, The Actress, The Tragedy Queen Meena Kumari

The graceful, gorgeous Meena Kumari who was often called, ‘The Tragedy Queen’ was born on this day, in 1933.

The beautiful actress who can never be forgotten was a talented poetess who wrote under the pen name of ‘Naaz’. She also sang a song, ‘Rang Barang’ for ‘Pakeezah’ which was not used in the movie but was released later.

Well-known actors would often forget their lines in front of her, even actresses like the great Madhubala would call her unique. In a career that spanned over 33 years and 92 films, she made such an unforgettable name for herself in the hearts of not just her fans but also the entire film industry that even the most senior actors would fall short of words in her appreciation.

She passed due to liver cirrhosis away shortly after her the epic film, ‘Pakeezah’ released but her legend continues today.
