There Are Interesting Stories Behind Each Artist’s Debut In Bollywood – Here Are Some

We know the names of the films our favourite stars debuted with in Bollywood. But the story could have been different had they accepted the roles that were offered to them before their debut movie.

Replacement of roles in B-town is a very hectic work. The director finds it very hard to recast after a cast is finalized and then suddenly the artist turns down the role. The rumours revolving around the film, star cast sometimes are true. These things also many times do not make the news, casting it aside as ‘speculations’.

This is the real story of the actors/actress in relation to their debuts:

1) Diana Penty:

She made her debut in Homi Adajania’s ‘Cocktail’ alongside Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan, which was a super hit and it struck the right chords to connect with the audience.

But, apparently Diana was supposed to play the female lead in Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Rockstar’ opposite Ranbir Kapoor but this never happened as she had other work commitments, and the role went to Nargis Fakhri.

2) Bipasha Basu:

Actor turned producer, Vinod Khanna was keen to cast actress Bipasha Basu opposite actor Akshaye Khanna for their debut. But Basu turned down the role as she felt that she was very young and this was not the right time to enter the industry. Eventually, the role went to ‘Anjala Zaveri’. Later in 2001, Basu made her debut in Abbas Mustan’s ‘Ajnabee’ alongside Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor and Bobby Deol.

3) Siddharth Malhotra:

Everybody knows that before entering the Bollywood industry, Siddharth Malhotra was a model and some of the people knew him. Back in the year of 2008, Malhotra was offered the role of Manav opposite actress ‘Priyanka Chopra’ for Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Fashion’. Then the role went to Arjan Bajwa.

Siddharth made his debut in 2013, ‘Student of the Year’, directed by Karan Johar, along with Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan.

4) Lara Dutta:

This is one of the most shocking things heard about actress Lara Dutta that she was offered the role in a Hollywood movie, Matrix Reloaded and also in the third part of the Matrix franchise, Matrix Revolutions.

But she wanted to be loyal to the Bollywood industry and made her debut in ‘Andaaz’ in 2003 opposite Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra.

5) Aishwarya Rai Bachchan:

This is very unbelievable that Bollywood’s highly talented actress, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was offered the role in ‘Raja Hindustani’ opposite the perfectionist, Aamir Khan but she declined the role. The movie was a successful hit but the role had gone to Karishma Kapoor. In the year of 1999, Aishwarya made her debut in ‘Aa Ab Laut Chalen’ opposite Akshaye Khanna.

6) Shahid Kapoor:

Everyone knows this actor made his debut in ‘Ishq Vishq’ which proved to be very successful for him. Kapoor was offered the role of ‘3 idiots’ actor ‘Sharman Joshi’ in ‘Style’ which he refused to do.

7) Priyanka Chopra:

One of the most influential actresses in the world is currently enjoying success. Chopra is known to everyone now, since the time she has entered the Hollywood industry after making her name in the Bollywood industry.

Chopra was supposed to make her debut in director Abbas Mustan’s 2002 super hit movie ‘Humraaz’ alongside Bobby Deol and Akshay Khanna. Things between Priyanka Chopra and the makers of the movie did not work out so the role went to actress ‘Ameesha Patel’ later on.

Priyanka made her debut in the industry opposite, Sunny Deol in ‘Hero: Love Story Of A Spy’.

8) Tiger Shroff:

The actor who is famous for his groovy dance moves and high octane action stunts was to make his debut with 1980’s super hit movie, Hero’s remake. The old one starred his father ‘Jackie Shroff’ which was his first movie in the industry and it went on to become a blockbuster hit Shroff was not convinced with making his debut in the remake of his father’s movie so he made his entry with ‘Heropanti’ in 2012.
