This is a trend currently in the Bollywood industry, many directors are making remakes of hit South Indian movies. Rohit Shetty’s ‘Simmba’ which stars Ranveer Singh and new girl Sara Ali Khan is also a remake of the South Indian movie, ‘Temper’.
The cast of ‘Prasthanam’ is getting bigger and bigger day by day. Recently, Sanjay Dutt was roped in the movie for the lead role, actress Manisha Koirala is also in the remake and she is doing the role of Dutt’s wife in the movie. Manisha Koirala is also coming this month in Rajkumar Hirani’s biopic on Sanjay Dutt, ‘Sanju’ she plays the role of Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Sanjay Dutt’ mother (Nargis Dutt). Strange coincidence?
Jackie Shroff has also joined the cast of the movie and this will be for the first time that Sanjay and Jackie will be working along after 10 long years in ‘Eklavya’ in 2007. It is heard that Jackie Shroff’s role will be a pivotal one in the movie, according to firstpost.com.
This is the first time in 20 long years that Sanjay, Jackie, and Manisha are working together. The trio last came together in 1998 ‘Kartoos’ which was an action drama.
A Times of India report reads that Sooraj Pancholi, son of actor Aditya Pancholi will be starring in the lead in the film.
Sanjay Dutt Productions is the producer of the movie and the shooting of the movie already started on 7th June in Lucknow.
The director of the original and the remake is same – Deva Katta. About having Jackie Shroff on board for the film he told a major newspaper, “Prasthanam is a subject which is close to my heart and with Jackie sir joining the team, it’s a dream come true for me to be able to work with such a powerful cast. I have always looked up to them and it’s a great opportunity to be able to direct them.”
After the director was asked about the roles these actors are playing in the movie he said, “Wait and watch who is playing which character. I don’t want to speak much about the film at this point now.”
‘Prasthanam’ is based on the subject of politics in India, it is an action thriller basically, with ambition and power as the only greed.
