Ever since we were kids, we have been cajoled into eating fruits and vegetables. And to be honest, some of the fruits are simply mouthwatering. The famous saying, ‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away’, is something every human knows on this planet.
But this artist went a step ahead and reimagined fruits as cute human beings. Artist Marija Tiurina is a London-based illustrator & concept artist has been painting fruits and vegetables as watercolour characters.
While talking to demilked.com, the artist answered a question about what inspires her,”I have been picking green foods I found interesting and inspiring and creating characters based on those. Simple!”

The last but not the least: a concerned pink lettuce and star fruit followed by a sneaky physalis (also known as a cape gooseberry). As a kid I spent many summers at my grandma’s who had bunches of physalis lanterns grown as a decorative feature – had no idea those were edible and even delicious, tasting like little cherry tomatoes with reduced acidity🍅 Yay nature. Thanks to everyone for supporting this project, it’s been a fun one and no fruit or veg were harmed in its production (except for consumption, naturally). . #illustration #painting #watercolor #characterdesign #drawing #fruit
