Recently the director of ‘Bharat’ Ali Abbas Zafar, who has collaborated with Salman Khan for Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai announced that actress Priyanka Chopra is no longer a part of the project.
‘Bharat’ is one of the most ambitious projects as it is being adapted from a Korean movie, ‘An Ode to my Father’. The star cast of the movie is highly talented as they have roped in Tabu, Sunil Grover and Katrina Kaif who will be replacing Priyanka Chopra if the rumours are to be believed true. Apart from them Disha Patani and Nora Fatehi are also in the film and Salman Khan will be playing the lead role.
Speculations were made that Chopra got engaged to her boyfriend, Nick Jonas on her birthday in London. Every one was citing this as the reason for her departure from the project but this may not be the true reason. Chopra got criticized for this and she was blamed for being very much unprofessional for leaving the movie at the last minute.
The real reason is being speculated that the ‘Aitraaz’ actress wanted some change in her fees for the movie. According to a source which told DNA, “It’s silly to even suggest that marriage should be a reason for exiting a film so abruptly. This coming from Priyanka, who has made headlines for her emancipated thought process, is lame. Priyanka had brought up this subject with her close friend within the Khan family. However, the remuneration was decided after checking the viability factor. After all, even her last outing Jai Gangaajal (2016) wasn’t anything to write home about. And paying her that double-digit figure, which she was reportedly asking for, would not be prudent.”
There is also another factor which should be considered is that Priyanka Chopra has signed filmmaker Shonali Bose’s, ‘The Sky Is Pink’ along with Farhan Akhtar and Zaira Wasim. It would not be possible to manage both the films as Bharat’s shooting has already started and this movie will start soon.
In an interview with SpotboyE, Salim Khan, Salman Khan’s father said, “It’s okay if she cannot do the film. It’s okay whatever happened. Priyanka is not doing Bharat, let her be. Such things happen in our industry. Has it happened for the first time that someone has left a film? Our very own Zanjeer went through so many ins and outs. Such things happen. Sometimes they happen for date issues, or the role, or even the money aspect. Aur kabhi aadmi ki kuch apni majbooriyan hoti hai. I haven’t yet got into the details of why Priyanka left Bharat, but we shall soon cast someone else. We are not upset with Priyanka. Salman Khan is also not upset.”
