Do you have some old clothes in your wardrobe that are simply too boring to wear? You could take inspiration from Sarah Tyau and transform those clothes into hip ones.
Sarah, who has been featured on various platforms has a goal of inspiring people to look good, feel good and do good.
She started out at first with an intention to save money as she had given to birth to her first daughter and the expenses had increased. Then she realised that to look good, she did not need expensive clothes, according to BuzzFeed. She now has 134k followers on Instagram.
This lovely woman’s fashion ideas are the perfect antidote to the brand-conscious attitude we have, where we end up splurging a lot of money instead of making better use of it. Look at some of her amazing work below:
Can you tell it’s the same dress? Dyed it from a faded light yellow to fuchsia red, took the sleeves off from the jacket and added it to the sleeveless dress underneath, altered the dress to make it form fitting and used the bottom of the jacket to make the peplum. See my story for the link to this blog post. . . p.s I had so many questions about my kids’ favorite toy (that they ride all day, everyday, outside and inside the house) that I added it under “Best toy ever” in my highlights! Bought the closest matching fabric to the dress and added puffy pleated sleeves. Are you a fan of the sleeves or no? More of the dress and the inspiration behind it, link in bio. . . I’d love your help! I’m collaborating with another amazing YouTuber who does the same thing that I do(you’re going to love her) and we are brainstorming on what Halloween costume to DIY/refashion, could you help us? We want to do a couples costume to match with each other, are there any upcoming movies or cool costume ideas we can do? We are both girls, FYI. Oh… I guess I only had to clarify that she’s a girl too… but in case you didn’t know I was a girl.😛 I need some ideas!
a very condensed version of my most recent Refashion Revision episode where I transformed a XL men’s shirt into a pinafore dress with a removable bib. Check out the link in bio for a full tutorial. . . I haven’t had the desire to sew lately but all your love and encouragement is giving me the motivation I was lacking, so thank you friends!😘 If you want to see a new refashion, comment with the latest emoji you used!
$3 thrift find dress into a skirt. . . Happy MLK Day! Here are my favorite quotes from the wise & great Martin Luther King Jr. . . “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” . “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” . “If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” . “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” . “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” . “The time is always right to do what is right.” . “I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.” . “Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed.” . “Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” . “We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.” . “We may have all come on different ships, but we’re in the same boat now.” . . (swipe ⬅️) Throwback to when I added sleeves for @mindygledhill for her music video Winter Moon, which ended up being one of my favorite Christmas songs! She’s one of my favorite song artists, you’ll fall in love with her voice, her music and her spirit, if you haven’t already. Link in bio for more photos of the dress and my experience. . . I got to attend an event tonight with Mindy at @neighborhoodartcenter to help promote @provogirlssummit that is happening on March 8th, which is a career exploration event for girls ages 8-12. They can submit art pieces to be put on display at the Neighborhood Art Center where winners will win prizes! We will be submitting the art my girls made tonight, I’ll put it on my story! This is such a great organization that empowers girls and celebrates the strengths and the talents of women in the world so go check out @provogirlssummit and bring your girls!
I didn’t get a chance to make a new refashion this week since my kid & I were both sick + husband on a work trip, but here are never before seen footages of the making of one of my most popular refashions I’ve done, an oversized denim dress into a jumpsuit! I BARELY had enough fabric to make what I did but if I had extra fabric, I would have made a waist-tie in the front so you don’t see the elastic waistband. See the full video and more ugly faces I make on my YouTube channel, link in bio! #sarahsDIY _____________________________________________________________ ❤Thank you so much for all your sweet support and love on my post yesterday, I am sending a big fat virtual hug to each one of you!
