Parents play a huge role in a child’s life. Like mothers, fathers too have a significant impact on who the child will grow up to be. Children often look up to their parents for approval, for inspiration and tend to imitate certain patterns exhibited by a parent.
There are so many cases where a child does not open up to his or her father, and the father doesn’t understand this, causing a strain in the relationship. Communication is the key to most locks that help sustain healthy bonds.
Recently, the board examination results of class X were out. All Indians know the amount of pressure and importance this year is given. Students cut off from everything else except studies and every year post results we read reports of students committing suicide.
This is the story of a ‘civil contractor’, Surendra Kumar Vyas, a resident of the Shivaji Ward in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar city, and his son ‘Ashu’ who recently gave his class X boards and failed.
What would normally happen in this situation? Scolding, reprimanding, crying and all sorts of emotional drama. But that did not happen in Ashu’s case. His father instead celebrated with firecrackers and sweets got a shamiyana built.
His father told the Times of India, “This is how I want to motivate my son. After failing in exams, children go into depression and some of them even take extreme steps of ending their lives. I want to tell such children that boards are not the last exams. There is much more to come in life. My son can reappear in the exam again next year.”
Just to make sure this works well, this is the reaction of son Ashu on this, “ I appreciate my father. I promise to study harder in the next academic session to pass with excellent marks.”
What do you think about Surendra Kumar’s reaction? Do you agree with it?
