The meaning behind the name of the movie itself is ‘Brave Warrior’, which means ‘Soorma’. The movie stars Punjabi actor who is known for his acting in ‘Udta Punjab’, Diljit Dosanjh who is essaying the role of Indian Hockey Player, Sandeep Singh.

The movie also stars Tapsee Pannu and Angad Bedi in the lead roles.

‘Soorma’ which is directed by ‘Shaad Ali’ is slated release on 13th July and since the time the trailer was released a month ago, the film has gained a lot of momentum on the social media. Apart from that Diljit’s acting has stolen many hearts and it is a sports biopic – such a simple topic which is loved by the viewers.

There have been speculations that Ranveer Singh was offered the lead role of the hockey champion, ‘Sandeep Singh’, but Ranveer Singh could not commit to the role as the dates were clashing with his other projects, back then in 2016. Tapsee Pannu’s role, who is playing the love interest of ‘Diljit Dosanjh’ and a hockey player too in the movie, was offered to the actress ‘Ileana D’cruz’, but she also left out the project as her schedule was clashing with her ongoing projects.

But it seems as if ‘Diljit Dosanjh’ has worked extremely hard to match the acting, and the looks of the hockey player, Sandeep Singh. Angad Bedi is playing the role of Sandeep’s elder brother, Bikramjeet in the movie.

The movie is about Sandeep Singh who handles all the ups and downs in his life, how once his career is finished when he is on the peak. His career comes to an end when he was accidentally shot in the ‘Shatabadi Express Train’ when he was supposed to leave for Germany to play the World Cup two days later. Singh was paralyzed and was in the wheelchair for two years in the middle of everything and it was evident that his career was over. But then he recovered and entered the Indian team, captaining the Indian National Team under whom they won a lot of victories.

‘Soorma’ is an inspirational movie which explains that one incident can change your life yes, but not end it.
