Will Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavat’ clash with Akshay Kumar’s ‘Padman’?

‘Padmavat’ has been cleared by the Central Bureau of Film Certification after a team of historians compared the movie’s story with history. But the film is still surrounded by clusters of protests from the Rajput Karni Sena. They have given an ultimatum that irrespective of the clearance granted they will not allow the movie to release at any cost.

Karni Sena has warned that if the film releases then the cost will be paid by the BJP government. The Rajput organization has locked its horns since the start stating that the film distorts the history of the country, portrays the Queen Padmini in a bad light and the shooting of dream sequences between Delhi’s Sultan Alauddin Khilji and Rani Padmini are derogatory as they never occurred in history. The name of the movie has been changed from ‘Padmavati’ to ‘Padmavat’ on the order of the CBFC to prevent controversy.

After clearing Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh’s  2hours 43 minutes movie with a U/A certificate, it is like a cloudburst on the filmmakers once again.

As per the latest reports, there have been speculations riffling around the controversial ‘Padmavat’ that the movie is gearing up for a release on the 25th of January 2017, clashing with R Balki’s Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor starrer Padman.

There has been no official comments from the producers of the controversial movie, but they are preparing to get the movie out any time soon.

There are chances of Box Office clashes as in the past also in December 2015, Bajirao Mastani released along with Rohit Shetty’s Shahrukh Khan starrer Dilwale – the former went on to become a hit, sweeping away many awards but the film overall was behind Dilwali in the matter’s of box office collections.

Meanwhile Neeraj Pandey’s ‘Aiyaary’ starring Manoj Bajpayee and Siddharth Malhotra has already shifted the dates to 9th February to avoid any clashes with big movies.

The movies clashing at the box office is not a positive workout for anyone as both of the movies cannot share the audiences. Padmavat is a historical film whereas Padman is a social story about a man who makes low-cost sanitary pads. If two most-awaited movies release together, the screens get divided and both of the movies earn less because the historical movie is made on a budget of a whopping 190 crores and Akshay’s movie marks the production debut of his wife Twinkle Khanna.

The producers of Akshay Kumar’s movie have maintained their stand by saying that they will not be shifting the dates of their movie. There are no official announcements made by the Padmavat team about their release date and it is also said that they might bring their movie out on 9th of February.

Luv Ranjan the director of the hit Pyaar Ka Punchnama series is all set to release his movie Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, starring Kartik Aryan on 9th Feb but will shift the date of his movie to avoid any clash with SLB’s movie.

Till now Padmavat is the most talked about movie due to the political publicity it is getting, so it is an absolute that whenever the movie releases the film will shatter the box officer with positive numbers
